I ran into an issue that required me to use STSADM and could not find any references as to where on the hrad drive it is located. I found another blog that had the information so I figured I’d post it so that there are two reliable resources available.
c:\Program Files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\12\bin
There are several tools in this folder.
Additionally, if you need SMIGRATE.EXE, you can download it from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3DF85705-5635-40DB-ADBE-E13AB8684A60
If you want to avoid having to reach this location using the command prompt; you can create a simple batch file that will automatically open CMD to the location of the STSADM utility. Simple create a new document using notepad and type the following:
@echo off
echo =========================================================
echo STSADM
echo =========================================================
cmd /k cd "c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\12\bin\"
Than save it as a .BAT file; for example “STSADMSC.bat”
Double click on the file and you will get a window similar to this:
